On the Passing of President Jimmy Carter
by Imam Earl Abdulmalik Mohammed
30 December 2024
We join our fellow American citizens and well-meaning persons the world over in mourning the passing of President Jimmy Carter. He is thought of as a servant of G-d Almighty, the American people and humanity at large.
He is remembered in particular by us as the first of US Presidents to acknowledge with sincere gestures and words of public respect our Muslim-American presence, importance and leadership. He was the friend to Imam W. Deen Mohammed and his vision of a good future in America for Muslims alongside the following of other great religions in the citizenry of America.
We are praying to G-d for his soul and for comfort upon his loved ones. We also pray that our present American leaders will reflect upon his life of faith in G-d as it guided his commitment to a spirit of humble decency and truthfulness for American and world leadership.
In many respects he demonstrated the higher regard for the potential of the common person and service to uphold it as the sacred calling to leadership service and government obligation.
May G-d bless him and grant him Mercy.
